PART FIVE: SURRENDER RECEIVES SAUL BELL DESIGN AWARD
Walking into the ballroom for the Saul Bell Award banquet, my eye was immediately drawn to the crowd gathered around the showcase. I walked over to see the other winning pieces, and a smile spread across my face as I got a chance to examine them all. This is one group which I am honored to be a part of.
After a dinner done to perfection, we were treated to Michael Harrison’s video expertise, a series of vignettes about the artists and their designs. Mine is here for you to view some of the challenges and triumphs of this special piece.
Following, was the speech and presentation by Alan Bell. He talked about the Saul Bell Award experience, and why to participate- to be stretched, to become a better person…
As I listened to his words, I realized that is just how I would describe this past year. I’ve grown in ways I could not imagine, and I am very grateful to be where I am now… to have created this necklace called Surrender and have followed its path.
As the ceremony came to a close, the next question was… where will the story continue? Who will be the fortunate lady to own this necklace? Who will write the next chapter of Surrender?
