PART ONE: CAD TRIALS FOR FIT AND TEXTURE
It was a relief to receive the first “test” print of the links. From the computer screen I just could not get an accurate feel for the fit and the texture of the pieces. With the fit and texture were both critical, the pieces needed to be tweaked and reprinted a few times to get it spot on.
I did a test mold of one of the early prints and shot several waxes and laid them out.
That way I could check the movement and fit, and how pieces would lay on the neck
I wanted to keep the size of the texture the same as the links graduated smaller in size- so whether the link was small or large, the texture would look the same.
It was the look I wanted, and it also meant 3 times the cad work. Oh well, that’s why I planned for Murphy.
